Description
Poly-Optic® 1410 Clear Casting Resin is a two-part, liquid polyurethane resin that cures (RTV) to a water-clear, Shore D80 plastic. This plastic is hard and virtually unbreakable; for optimum physical properties, post cure at 150°F. For a Poly-Optic® product with a 1A:1B mix ratio, consider Poly-Optic 1411 Casting Resin. Poly-Optic® 1410 can be mixed with Poly-Optic® 14-70 (a firm rubber) to achieve a variety of hardnesses between A70 and D85. Vacuum and/or pressure casting techniques are recommended for this product. Cure inhibition can occur when casting this resin in tin-cured silicone rubber molds – use a platinum-cured silicone rubber mold if working with silicones.
Mix Ratio: 3A/2B by weight
Shore Hardness: D80
Cured Color: Water Clear
Mixed Viscosity: 700 cP
Demold time varies with thickness of casting and the amount of Poly-Optic Part X Accelerator added. Shrinkage in polyurethane resins is caused by gelling while hot then cooling. Parts that cure with minimal temperature rise (exotherm) exhibit minimal shrinkage. For additional physical property specifications, refer to the Physical Properties Bulletin. Poly-Optic resins are the plastics of choice for mimicking glass and ice-like features and are widely used to create stunning prototypes (lenses, bottles, containers), as well as unique art, medical models, sculpture and display items.
